The other weekend The Spice & I launched into a pile of large home improvement projects. Not one of them went according to plan.
So after a 14 hour day of work and mishap, my husband took our buddy, A.K.A. free labor, out for a game of pool and a beer. I went searching for my hot glue gun… and a beer. I also grabbed some pretty paper. I could not go to bed defeated by D.I.Y projects.
As luck would have it I had an escape plan for the next morning. I was meeting a group of ladies to celebrate a friends engagement at the beach. Not one to show up empty-handed, I thought a little something blue was in order. In this case mini cup cakes with Tiffany Blue icing. When food is petite it just feels more elegant.
With that in mind, inspiration for my pretty paper struck. Mini beach umbrellas!
These are ridiculously easy to assemble, which is exactly what I needed after our home improvement frustrations.
Here is what you will need.
- Double sided scrap card stock so the umbrellas look pretty inside and out.
- 1 1/2 inch hole punch or template and scissors
- Hot glue gun
- Toothpick or skewers cut to size
Cut or punch out your circles, then cut across the radius of each circle.
Fold the left side of the cut on top of the right side until you have a cone. Secure with a drop of hot glue. When set add a second drop of glue to the inside of the cone and attach your toothpick. Hold until set. Wah-la mini beach umbrellas.
That’s it. Little fuss, big stress relief. D.I.Y victory. Surfs up!
Love these…very cute!!
